Deep robust brown coloured body with a cola-like tint with a thinnish, two centimetre tall tan head that fades relatively quickly. Aroma of light peated malt with some grain, a dose of cardboard, a touch of nuts, earth and a light caramelised sugar note towards the end. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong grapey and lightly malty flavours dominate with a touch of the peat and grainy, earthy flavours and a touch of light caramelised sugars towards the end, but the yeast and grain are the strongest notes for sure. Aftertaste shows some light sugars, a touch of lager yeast, a hint of the biscuits, but more sugars (caramel and caster sugar) than others for the style. Overall, a decent enough dunkles with a grassy and more astringent malt profile than others for the style, but showing some good qualities - unfortunately they are on the very mild side. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Shopper's [food warehouse] in Falls Church (Bailey's Crossroads), Virginia on 05-November-2018 for US$1,67 sampled at home in Washington on 20-April-2019 after returning from Florida on Spring Break 2019.

Sampled from a bottle this beer poured a dark orange-brown color with a large foamy tan head that left decent lacing. The aroma was malty with faint cocoa, wood and floral hops. The flavor was bitter with sour malts, wood, dust and dark fruits. Medium length finish. Medium body.
