On tap at Risras. As Mad Viking Night Raid. It pours a black body under a small, beige head. The aroma is on the roasted side, with some faint burnt notes. Molasses and licorice chime in. Itβs sweet on the palate, full-bodied, with coffee, some malty bitterness, roasted malts and treacle. Lasting roasted finish with treacle and sweetness. Not a superb one, a tad sweet perhaps, but itβs a fine brew indeed. 140804

On tap at PIB, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out loads of chocolate, some roasted malt and caramel. Flavour is very rich, with loads of chocolate, medium roasted malt, and a touch of caramel. Very rich and sludgy, with an uncompromising body. Thick, viscous and bold. Good stuff in small samples.
Earlier Rating: 7/26/2012 Total Score: 3.5
Sampled on tap at PIB, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, metallic notes and some chocolate. Flavour of roasted malt, chocolate and the metallic notes again. Full-bodied, but not too refined - some jagged edges. Good, but could use some work.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with thick dark brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, soy sauce, and chocolate. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, alcohol, soy sauce, chocolate, and wood, leading to a dry roasted finish. Thanks yespr for this.

Tap, as Mad Viking Imperial Stout. Pours opaque black with a small tan head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is coffee, dark roasted malts and a touch of raisin. Flavor is medium sweet coffee, dark chocolate, a bit of fruit, and an alcoholic finish that diminishes as the beer airs. Body is medium.
