Keg at CBC, London. Pours dark brown with a white head. Lots of bread in the aroma with some yeast and spices. Medium sweet flavor, notes of bread and cake, yeast, light citrus. Medium bodied with average carbonation. There’s a light spiciness in the finish, presumable imparted by the rye. Ends with a bit of toast, yeast, banana, cake and bread. Very nice.

On tap at Ølfestival 2011. It pours a clear dark amber to brown body under a finger-thick beige head leaving lacings. Fruity aroma with pale malts. Citrus, banana, some apples and a touch of sugar. Smooth on the palate, with banana, some roasted flavors and pale malts. Medium body, smooth. A nice beer indeed. 110526

Draught @ Pikkulintu, Helsinki
Pours dark red, almost black with a small foamy head. Light aroma of malts, berries and red wine. Taste has notes of berries, red wine, malts and slightly spices and fruity hops. Warming, slightly carbonated finish. Quite unusual beer, not really a saison.

(Draught at Pikkulintu, 20110827) The beer poured dark brown and cloudy. Its head was small and white. Aroma had malts, spices and wood. Palate was medium bodied and dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were spices, wood, sweetness, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was spicy, woody and bitter. A really weird mess.

Cask at Craft Pub and Kitchen Black with a red glow and lace. Aroma of licorice, coffee, and funk, yeasty. Flavors of blackberries, sweet chocolate, yeast, spice. Disjointed. Doesn’t hang together well. Too much going on herb-wise.

Draft at Makke. Has to be one of the more unusual names for a beer, and it’s an unusual beer as well. Tasty enough with an odd spice combination that I can’t identify. I’d like to try it again.
