Deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish, two centimetre tall off-white and perhaps even tan head that keeps its shape nicely. Aroma of very nice smoked and toasted malt with a lot of grass and tons of citrus and full grapefruits with a lot of alpha acid bitterness noticeable in the nose alone - great smells! Medium-bodied; Super rich smoked malt flavours at first dominate in flavour and then leave the deep bitter hop notes from citrus and grass on the end with a great small touch of caramelised sugars and almost candy-like sweetness from the citrus and tangy notes, but balanced very nicely with the deep and strong malts. Aftertaste shows the very strong smoked notes, but somehow less than the citrusey, grapefruity and very grassy hop notes, which definitely dominate, in a great way. Overall, a very well-executed smoked IPA that does show the smoked malt and peat elements, but the hops really do stand out (as they should in an IPA) with a great grapefruity and citrusey bitterness. Very nice to sample, and despite me knowing that this is now ABInBev owned, I'd buy this beer again in a heartbeat if it becomes mass produced or available again. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle, purchased from Harris Teeter in Pentagon City (Arlington), Virginia on 19-November-2019 for US$1,87 sampled at home in Washington on 21-March-2020.

12 ounce bottle thanks to hershiser2! Looking forward to this one! Near black, large creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of roast, plum, smoke. Taste is strong smoke, roast, plum, caramel, tobacco. Medium bodied, low bitterness, well balanced. Not sure its really a BIPA, but its a nice smoked dark beer. Very nice.

Kroger 29 bottle. Dark brown, clear, small beige head. Roasted malt, orange peel aroma. Flavor is orange peel, roasted malt, light smoked malt in the end. Would like to enjoy this more - it has all the ingredients of a great beer, but it's just OK.
