Crystal clear copper and golden coloured body with an amazing microbubbled head of about three centimetres, that looks like a nice sparkling wine - but it doesn't fade quite as fast (which is a good thing, of course). Aroma of funk, pale grain, yeast, grapes and dry oak - not too far removed from a sparkling wine. Medium-bodied; Assertive effervescence (again, just like a real 'brut'). Strong dry oaky and grape flavours with some yeast and funk coming on towards the end, with a dash of hops noticeable (grassy) and a touch of sweetness, too. Aftertaste is deep and dry, but no real IPA flavours at all - this is a rip-off of an actual dry sparkling wine, showing some warmth from the alcohol, funk from the yeast, with even a dry character from the oak and grasses. Overall, not a bad beer, and very close to a decent champagne (methode champagnoise), just NOT an IPA - this should be dropped from the name (or the label). I sampled this twelve ounce bottle, purchased from Crystal City Wine Shop in Arlington, Virginia on 19-July-2019 for US$3,29 sampled at home in Washington on 21-July-2019, the 14th anniversary of the day I met my [would be] wife.

12 ounce bottle thanks to hershiser2! Hazy pale yellow, large frothy white head, good retention. Aroma of pale malt, apricot, white grape. Taste is pale wheat, spice, grape, lemon zest. Both sweet and dry, medium bodied, spritzy and prickly champagne-like carb. Nice.
