Bottle sample at Beer Enthusiast release tasting, Bergen. Has a black colour, with its beige head it couldve been a dark roasted coffee I had in my glass. The aroma is fantastic with a touch of some chocolate roast, chocolate truffles, coffee, dried fruit, and some cola. Much Chocolate is in the taste, and feels not unlike coffee mocha. More dried fruit that sends me in the direction of port wine. A truly good and great beer, and feels beautifully smooth in the mouth. Incredibly easy-drinking in relation to the ABV.

Bottled. A chestnut brown beer with a huge creamy brown head. The aroma has notes of citrusy hops, chocolate, and some roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of chocolate, nuts, bread, roasted malt, and hops lending it notes of spices and citrus fruits, leading to a bitter finish.

Sampled at Nærbø Ølfestival. Dark amber body with a thin beige head. Aroma is fruity, yeast and chewing gum, not in a bad way – rather nice. Flavor is sweet malty, slightly roasted, hint of chocolate, fruity and decent bitter. Fine body, hoppy aftertaste. A nice and flavorful beer.

On tap at Ølfestival 2011. A creamy, two-finger thick beige head sits on top of a black body. Beauty of the day so far, that’s for sure. And the aroma and flavor turned out to be among the best they too. There’s piney hops, a light roasted touch, citrus peel and I can sense some alcohol as well in the nose. The flavor has a licorice accent, introducing roasted malts, piney hops, some alcohol and coffee. Could maybe use a bit more bitterness I think, but a nice one anyway. Full-bodied and lightly warming on the palate. Overall, a bit on the sweet side, but very nice anyway. 110527
