Malted barley is the cornerstone of Scottish brewing. Hops, less so. However, we wanted to try something very different – and made Young Pretender our driest, hoppiest ale

Shimmering gold and refreshingly full-flavoured, Young Pretender is an ale to challenge received wisdom.

Much like the Skye Brewery itself – very much an upstart in an industry sometimes reluctant to embrace the new.
Available in bottles at 3.8% ABV, draft at 4%.

Hops: Challenger
Malts: Maris Otter, Medium Crystal

Cask at GBBF ’14, day 1, 12/08/14. Clear pale golden with moderate off white edgework and spotting. Nose is pale malt, light citric, straw. Taste comprises straw, pale malt, light cereals, citric pangs. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close. So so - golden blonde surely not a bitter??!!??
