Rich, dark brown coloured body witha minorly clear look that is slightly hazy with a very nice three centimetre tall light brown head that fades fairly quickly, but leaves a thin lace on the sides and barely anything up top. Aroma of maple syrup, fresh caramelised sugars, a dash of lactose and full cream and bit of anise, licorice with a big malt quality here. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong very rich maple syrup notes dominate with a lot of sweetness noticeable from the caramelised sugars, toffee and candy-like notes, but the spices provide some nice complexity and range here, with a strong pungency at the end, mainly from the deep malts, but there is also some nuts and light earthiness here, too. Aftertaste is clean, but very rich fro the style - this tastes much more like a porter or even a stout, from the sugars, but the richness and spices are very nice. Overall, a very nicely done, rich, pungent, spicey and very sweet beer that hits the edges nicely with a great complexity throughout. Great to sample and very enjoyable, almost surprising this is Lidl labelled, but very nice throughout - great to try when it's chilly outside! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle, purchased from Lidl [grocery] in Annandale (Little River Turnpike), Virginia on 06-December-2021 for US$5,99/six pack, sampled at my house here in Washington about a month later, on 05-January-2022.

12 ounce bottle thanks to hershiser2! 5/26/22. Hazy amber, thin tan head, fair retention. Aroma of nuts, caramel, cherry. Taste is anise, maple, nuts. Thin. Meh.
