Handpull cask at the Coach & Horses, Thorpe Road, Norwich. Translcent, mid- to dark brown with a light beige head. Nutty, malty aroma. Typical of a good mild but nothing particularly outstanding about it. Sweet chocolate malt at the start of the taste, but it ends with a markedly bitter finish. A decent enough mild without a lot of character.

Gravity poured pint during the 2013 CAMRA AGM in Norwich. Really dark body, deep ruby red/brown with a creamy head. Burnt malts ruled the nose and taste: roasted coffee and dark bitter chocolate flavours come into play early on as well. Earthy rather than rich or creamy in the body feel, depth of flavours good. Iād had nothing but golden citrusy beers before this during this session, I needed a dark malt laden brew and this fitted the need in perfect style.

Cask at GBBF 2011, Day 2. Pours ruby-brown with a tight, foam head. Dark fruits and subtle dark malts in the aroma. Medium sweet flavor, some doughy malts and toast, dark fruits, hints of brown sugar. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Good condition. Sweet, dark sugar finish, with restrained dark fruits, light roast and cocoa. Great stuff. Really right on target.

Cask at GBBF 2010. A red brown beer with no head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt as well as a light note of sulphur. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and chocolate sauce, as well as a lighter note of sulphur, leading to a dry finish.

Cask @ GBBF 2010, Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, England.Clear dark brown color with a small to small average, frothy - fizzy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, dark malt, sour malt, smoke - chimney notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20100804]

Cask@GBBF2010. Black colour, small brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, toffee, fruits, wood and some mild brown sugary notes. Flavour is quite much the same along with some wood, liquorice and mild burnt sugary notes.
