The release of our Turbo Shandy Citrus Ale is around mid June. Born from European tradition, our Shandy is a refreshing combination of lemon and light malt flavors. Unlike traditional shandys, Turbo Shandy, revs it up a couple of notches with a high test, full flavored approach as only Hoppin’ Frog can do.

This brew pours a cloudy yellow-orange color with a minimal white head that evaporates quickly. Sparse spots of lacing on the glass. Citrusy aroma with some malt behind it. Medium body with a zesty orange and lemon character with some sweet malt and yeast in the background. The finish is fruity with a lingering citrus aftertaste. Maybe not the right time of year for a beverage like this, but pretty average overall.

Bottle, 22oz, courtesy of Brugmansia. It looks like a German radler, and smells like a German radler, wonder how it tastes. It’s clear, golden and with a minimal sized off-white head. There’s citrus, mint and some pale malts in the aroma. Lots of citrus actually. It’s a bit thin on the palate, quite dry, and with a stinging lemony sourness. The flavor is lemony, leaving the pale malts and whatever else might be there in the far back. A strange one indeed, but nice as well. 110319

Bottle @ Denmark/Norway Tasting @ Ulfborg 2011. Courtesy of Fonefan. Pours clear yellow with a small off white head. Lemon soda, Sprite and citrus. Some exotic touches . . Sweet. Alcohol very well hidden! Medium bodied. I wish I was 14 years old again! I would have loved this!

Yellow with a small white head. Aroma of lemonade, lemon peel and a hint of mint. Sweet citrus, sugar and caramel flavour. As a concept beer it’s spot on and pretty funny. But that’s all it is.
