The release of our Turbo Shandy Citrus Ale is around mid June. Born from European tradition, our Shandy is a refreshing combination of lemon and light malt flavors. Unlike traditional shandys, Turbo Shandy, revs it up a couple of notches with a high test, full flavored approach as only Hoppin’ Frog can do.

Bottled. A golden beer with a thin white head. The aroma has notes of lemon. The flavor is sweet with primary notes of lemon, but also light notes of malt.

Bottle, 7.0%. Distinct lemonade aroma, not like a German Radler, but quite artificial still. Like a mix of piss and cleaning agents. Extremely sweet - must have massive amounts of white sugar. Tastes a lot like water soluble multivitamins. Sweet and lemony with an alcohol finish.

pale yellow , small smooth white head. aroma is perfumey, candy, citrussy, way too artificial. flavor is strong bitter citrussy, macro beer. imperial shandy might not be a good idea after all.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of Theis. Pours yellow with a slight haze and a tiny white head. Fresh lemon aroma. Medium body, a little low in carbonation, rather sweet lemon accents - stil fresh though. No real bitterness. Quite decent. 171210

Bouteille Couleur est dorée et claire, mousse quasi inexistante, sauf pour quelques bulles en surface. Arôme est dans la plus pure tradition européenne, de bière mélangée avec de la limonade. Note de citrons fraîchement pressés.

Woo! Lemonade and lime aroma with plenty of sweetness going on but not much else. Tart lemon and lime flavor with a definite sweetness to it. The least beer flavored shandy I’ve ever had. The abv is well hidden. Could be perfect given the right situation...

Bomber pours clear gold with really no head at all. It smells like various citrusy orange like notes from sharp to sugary sweet. Interesting, it tastes like sweet orange grapefruit soda and essentially looks like it too. After it warms a tad faint notes of floral and spicy hops are noticed helping to delineate it from a sea of orange soda. This doesn’t really seem like beer and is extremely, dangerously so, drinkable for the ABV.

Bomber. So I’m a little skeptical going in... I’m thinking of some bad shandy experiences from macro producers and hoping that Hoppin Frog delivers something better than expected. Pours a fairly headless light gold with aromas of lemonade and sugar. I guess it’s OK, but I’m still not convinced. First thought after the initial sip is that it is remarkably sweet. Almost like an overly sweetened lemonade or something. Heck, you could have confused me and said there was no alcohol in this and I’d have bought it. It’s not bad, but I doesn’t do it for me.
