Made with 100% Maris Otter malt to back up the barrage of hop bitterness, flavor and aroma, this beast knows no boundaries. With all of this hoppy goodness packed into one beer, we wouldn’t have called it by any other name. Spike’s Brewing Words of Wisdom: Oh no, they say he’s got to go. Go, go Hopzilla!

Poured flat orange brown from bottle. Malty predominantly over the citrus. Not too bad.

bottle. Just did not like this imperial IPA. Could have been a bad batch, but major alcohol present - not refined at all. Disappointing

Hazy copper and bronzed coloured body with an orange glow and a thick, three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of rich dank hops with a lot of honey, malt, earth and even some perfume at the end. Full-bodied; Strong alcohol and gin notes at first with a kick of resin and pine and a lot of rich malt noticeable as well. Aftertaste has a bit of an alcohol bite at the beginning with some resin, pine, pineapple and floral hoppy notes, all with a very mild sweetness at the finish. Overall, a decent Imperial IPA that shows more alcohol notes than I expected with less sweetness, but the balance is a bit off compared to others that are better for the style. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Arlington (Clarendon), Virginia on 07-April-2014 for US$3,99 sampled at home in Washington on 20-August-2014.

Bottle. Poured a clear copper color with a medium sized white head. Aroma was pine resin notes, some citrus and floral hops, sweet caramel malts. Flavor was pretty well balanced, with some nice pine resin and sweet malt notes to balance it out. Alcohol is present, clearly. Split this bottle with a friend.

Bottle. Hazy, deep golden body. Frothy white head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, floral hops, toasted grain. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, moderate carbonation. Alcoholic finish. Lots of malts in the flavor and a muted hop bill that didn’t match the promise of a "hoppy goodness." So it tastes more like a strong ale to me. In that regard, it was OK.

Reviewed from notes. Rcvd in trade.
This was poured into a snifter and a tulip.
The appearance was a nice looking hazy pale orange color with some light brown tinges running lightly around the sides of the glass.
The head was about a light one fingered white foaminess sticking for a good minute before it died in a lumpy sort of way. There’s a good amount of lacing clinging all over the place (nice show!).
The smell had a bitter/dank/citrusy and somewhat resinous grapefruitiness running all over my nose and pummeling it into submission as to confusing it with bitter hops.
The taste had a nice citrusy sweetness running over my tastebuds.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a sessionability closing in on perhaps one or two beers of this in a night.
Overall, my final assessment on this one, well, its a great DIPA. I liked this one a lot and at the moment think its Terrapin’s best one (makes me wanna move to GA).

From a 12 oz bottle shared at home. Pours a clear copper with an off white head. Resin aroma. Flavors of orange and caramel. Not too boozy for the style. Bitter finish.

Comes together well. Seems like some Belgian yeast because there are floral elements here. Finishes with light sweetness. Pours amber with good head and lacing, soft carbonation. Comes together well. Thanks to the people next to me for a taste of this.

Bottle. Pours hazy orange amber with a small diminishing white head that leaves some lacing on the goblet. Aroma is caramel, pine, citrus; unfortunately it has that smell of an IPA on the backside of fresh. Flavor is medium sweet and quite bitter, without a lot of complexity. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel.
