The results are an ultra-dark, thick body with a toffee coloured head. A rich chocolate and roasted coffee aroma to the nose with creamy mouthfuls of melted Belgian chocolate, punctuated with toasted marshmallow notes to the palate.

Halifax Beer Festival 2023. Black coloured brew. Has a light tasting but heavy sweetness to its roasted malt character, with a similar but decent aroma.

Cask at Smithfield, Derby. I thought there was something fundamentally wrong with this beer but I was assured it was meant to taste like this so here goes ! Pours a very dark reddish-brown with minimal cream head. There’s malts and hints of cherries and chocolate in the aroma. In the mouth it has a horrible sharpness which overpowers everything, though traces of chocolate and cherries can be detected. As a cherry sour this would be a reasonable beer, but as a marshmallow stout it’s a disaster !
