Cask at The Bell, Waltham St Lawrence. Copper with a scummy cream head; aroma of leafy hops and some light malts; some juicy fruit flavours, but also an immediate and sustained bitterness kicks in; leading to a dry, slightly peppery finish. Pretty good stuff.

Cask handpump in The Hop Pole, Aylesbury, Bucks, Wednesday 18th July 2012 Aylesbury Swifter 3.8% Bitter. Pours amber in colour with filmy white head. Really quite pronounced bitterness, little bit harsh for some but I like it. Some malt swishing around and there is little sweetness but this is soon drowned out by the bitterness. Very dry in the finish, bitter pithiness though the taste is not what I would suggest as being citric. Very good beer but I am not convinced that yhe tasting notes which suggest ’balanced bitterness’ are that accurate. A7 A4 T8 P3 Ov13 3.5
