A right proper local brew! Barrel-aged in White Peak Distillery whiskey barrels, this stout brings all the goods: lush cacao from the nibs, a cheeky dash of raspberry sweetness, and a warm Derbyshire single malt, with that whisky barrel kick capturing a taste of Amber Valley in every mouthful.

440ml can, taken away from the Blue Boar, Leicester and drunk at home. Dark brown, opaque with a ring of beige head. Raspberry on the big aroma along with gooey dark chocolate. Taste is a bit off for me, not too sweet with a bit of berry sourness. More chocolate notes in the finish. Thick body with low carbonation. It’s okay. I want more from an imperial stout.

Keg at the Colmore, Bingohame, 27/02/2025.
Black with a thin tan head that clears to a swirl.
Nose is light smoke, treacle toffee, dried red berries, chocolate shavings.
Taste comprises dried fruit rinds, charr, lactic pinch, cocoa powder, light smoke, an almost peated note about it.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, drying close with a light rising boost.
Passable sipper ... for £7 a third this really lacks depth and barrel profile.

Can picked up from Shiny brewery and consumed at home Friday 10th January 2025 after a short Winterwanderweg at Rusel (local nr Deggendorf) listening to Huw Stephens on 6Music, we're cooking a Curry Guy 'Chicken Methi' later *we changed our mind and took a couple of small already cooked curries out of the freezer instead, Chicken Dhansak and Lamb Keema Pau. Pours almost black with yet another fast disappearing off white head. Chocolate and raspberry in tandem on the nose and in the mouth, fruity and the barrel ageing is working ok. I really wasn't a fan at first but I'm slowly beginning to appreciate it. Doesn't taste 11.8%
