Pours hazy amber, bit of white foam. Aroma has some prickly malts, bit of difficult-to-place fruits, maybe slightly medicinal. Taste has a bit of hop bttrness, fruits are not strong but impart some dry and light sweetness. Something herbal and medicinal. Overall, nice refreshing beer, not sure if biwa is the best fruit for brewing though.

On tap at Nakameguro taproom and at Craft Beer Market Jimbocho late summer 2014. Hazy orange pour with a slight white head. Decent lacing. Aromas of malt and stone fruit. Fairly balanced on the palate between sweet and sour. Fairly light body but a nice tartness and hop bitterness with the malt sweetness as the backbone. Light finish with tart dry finish.

Draught at Craft Beer Market. Rich malty nose, something like a helles with fruit, some citrus hops. Fruity, though not particularly biwa, which isn’t that fragrant anyhow. Darkish gold color with a thin head. Malty flavor with biscuits, sweet grains which lead the way, though the biwa is also there. Slight hoppy bitterness at the finish. Ok, but not one of Baird’s best fruit beers.

Bottle 63,3 cl. Courtesy of yngwie. Pours a cloudy amber with tiny impurities and an off-white head. Sweet malty nose, lightly oxidized. Medium body, sweet malty and a general fruitiness - no real traces of the Biwa though. Some hops in the finish. 290111

Bottle, 633ml, at Patricks. A slightly hazy, golden-colored beer topped by a small white head. Fruity nose with malty sweetness. Not much character. Fruity flavor with some malts, as the aroma pretty nice but characterless. Medium to full body, quite dry towards the end. A drinkable beer indeed, but not much exiting. A bit sweet to quench the thirst. 100213

633 ml bottle. A bit hazy, dark golden body with a decent off-white head. Interesting and a bit undefined fruit aroma with hops. Flavor is mild malty with a balanced and gently bitterness and this undefined fruitiness, probably the Biwa. Best described as a mix of green apple, acidic red berries, but also a hint of dry fruit. This fruit flavors is not particular strong, just like a nice addition to a well-balanced session beer with moderate bitterness. Enjoyable.
