Cask @ 1887 Brew Room, Blackpool. Black with a light-brown off-white head. A full-bodied brew and healthy tasting with very worthy tasting roasted malts, which are much more stated in its aroma.

Half-pint, cask, shared with Finn at Borough in Lancaster. Coal black in the glass, bubbly ring to the rim, spotty lacing. Roasted dark doughy nose, hints of dark berries. Malt-berry flavours, woody. Lightly roasted, short finish. Easy to drink. Pleasing to a certain degree. (06.02.2019).

Delt med Rune. Svart. Mokkafarget filmskum. Sjokoladearoma. Smaken lakris. Litt tynn - men bra ut fra styrken.

Brown 500ml bottle, best before 3 Nov 2010, drank and reviewed 19 Oct 2010. Poured into an ’Abbot Ale’ tankard. The bottle label tells a pleasant tale about ’Dent Railway Station’ and the walk to the brewery from the said station, buy a bottle to read it! Wonderful looking dark body, even held up to the light it still retained it’s depth and darkness. On top sat a deep tan coloured foaming blanket which produced huge rich lacing as I downed the beer. The smells were malty and leaning towards liquorice more than any sweeter trends. The taste was all malt with very little hop content being found. Like the aroma, the maltiness favoured the less sweet side, with again liquorice being the lead player in my estimation. The body was full and fairly rich, espeicialy when you remember the alcohol content is only 3.8% ABV. Easy to drink and very ’moreish’, wish I’d bought more when I got this bottle.

Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. It’s slightly hazy in the glass, chestnut colored and with a small beige head. The aroma is quite roasted, with coffee and hints of dried fruits and dark chocolate. Smooth, thin bodied and quite pleasantly carbonated. Lasting flavor with roasted, coffee-like malts and dried fruits, just a hint of bitterness. A pleasant surprise, tasteful and sort of quenching, in a coffee-like way. Would like more of this. 110128

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours a hazy dark orangey brown with a light brown head. Hard roast nose. Light body, great roastiness, some vanilla and raisin with a little dry tar in the finish. Well balanced and very drinkable. 280111
