The mix of floor malted Bohemian dark pilsner malt along with roasted German malts creates a pitch black lager brimming with rich cacao & toasted pumpernickel flavors. We exercise restraint in adding Czech Saaz hops in the kettle, which boosts seasonal dried date aromas, a welcome bitterness & a warming, dry finish. Ridge Tree pours dark, but at 4.5% ABV, it drinks like a hearty & flavorful, light lager.

Baromas are dark malt, roast with hints of licorice and molasses. Flavors are similar to nose and on the sweet side. Okay body was slightly soft carbonation. Not bad.

City Tap, draft: Dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is pretzel, pumpernickel, toasted malts, hints of dark chocolate. Taste is sweetish with a nice bitterness to cap it off. Nice.

Draft at Sugar Maple in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The pour is a clear brown copper with a small khaki head. The aroma is soft roast, along with nut. The taste is a dry roast malt, toast, earth, and a touch of the nut with very low sweetness. The palate is light bodied with active carbonation and dry finish. Well made, nice.
