Deep, dark, eternal. The Umbral Abyss devours all that pierce its watery veil. Eons of crushed debris give testament to the nightmare.
Into the dark ancestry of Black Oktober we added brandy-soaked coffee beans and oak to create a fearsome Imperial Stout.
The Umbral Abyss is an ancient and damning place, dare you taste of its depths?

Bottle from the dregs run delivery. Thanks Craig! Oily black pour. Aromas of chocolate and coffee. Taste is more of the same. Sweet finish. Bit one-dimensional.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - coffee and dark chocolate. Taste - creamy dark chocolate with coffee on the finish. Palate - rich and full bodied with a creamy rich texture and a long finish. Overall - decent and coffee not too dominant.

Bottle from Bitter Virtue Soton and drunk at home. Black beer lasting tan head. Very much coffee dominating the aroma. It’s a bit like a coffee liquer chocolate. Plenty of chocolate dark intense. Some dryness, lots of juicy coffee beans and dark fruits, black cherry. Rather delicious first beer of the day and a real winner. Love a good coffee impy stout. Touch of wood is there but not too dominant thankfully. Bit of booze from the brandy but to be honest it hides the abv extremely well.

330ml Bottle - Black with a foamy tan head. Earthy and roasted aroma with notes of coffee and a hint of vanilla. I don’t pick up much brandy from the aroma. Coffee, earthy notes, vanilla and cocoa can be deteced in the taste. Again, it’s enjoyable but I am not picking up much in the way of brandy notes.
