Deep, dark, eternal. The Umbral Abyss devours all that pierce its watery veil. Eons of crushed debris give testament to the nightmare.

Into the dark ancestry of Black Oktober we added brandy-soaked coffee beans and oak to create a fearsome Imperial Stout.

The Umbral Abyss is an ancient and damning place, dare you taste of its depths?

Bottle from the brewery via Eebria. Black pour with a swiftly dissipating tan head. Aromas of dark roast coffee, licorice, treacle toffee, coconut. Flavours of earth, shed loads of dark roast coffee, smoke, dark chocolate. Exceedingly dry. Rich, vinous finish. Excellent

Draft at Navy Volunteer, Bristol. Black with a small beige head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, fudge, roast, licorice and boozy brandy notes. Flavour is heavy sweet and moderate to heavy bitter. Full bodied with a thick texture and soft carbonation.

Bottle. Pitch black. Strong, pleasant coffee aroma. Lovely taste, coffee, light fruity touches, light chocolate, ending a bit dry, but still overall nicely full. Faint alcohol, but never getting in the way. Simply put, a classy, well made coffee imperial stout!

Black stuff, and a beige tan head. Solid intensity in the aroma. Full body and a fine carbonation level. Balanced sweetness. Coffee, roast, vanilla, toffee and chocolate in the flavor. Tasty little devil.

Bottle from Beer Gonzo, shop, Earlsdon, Coventry, consumed at home Friday 20th October 2017 whilst cooking a Chicken Chasni from the Curry Guy cookbook. Pretty much black on the pour with a good sized light beige head. Coffee dominates the nose but with a little oak background. The aroma is replicated in the mouth with coffee and vanilla dominant. It's a lovely beer, really easy drinking, enjoying this. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 3.9

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Black body with a medium tan head. Faint lacing. Aroma of liquorice, varnish and espresso. Flavour of oak, coffee ash and dark chocolate. Medium body with a slick, oily texture. Soft fizz. Pretty full on, but unfortunately for me, it doesnโ€™t quite gel. Lacks drinkability.
