Kissingate black cherry mild 4.2% cask at the GBBF. It’s a deep black with a ruby highlights. Malty maple syrup and cherry aroma. Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. The taste is molasses and cherry. Kind of off-puttingly artificial. Disappointing.

Cask @ The Angel, Manchester [311014]
Black, ruby edges, dense beige head
Aroma - soft mellow roast, dab of cocoa, soft light coffee, getting the cherry
Taste - soft roast, chocolate, soft coffee, lot of black cherry flavour here but I don’t really like this
Palate - Medium body, smooth texture. Finish of soft choc, touch of dry roast
Overall - The addition of cherries ruins it for me and they are too prominent. Could only have a few sips.

Sampled @ GBBF. Very dark brown color, small off-white head. Smell and taste malts, roasted malts, lightly fruity, a bit sweet-bitter, a touch of red fruits and twigs as well as some caramel. Not very well mixed together. Don’t like it.

Cask gravity at the 2014 GBBF. Opaque dark caramel coloured pour with a lasting greyish head. Aroma is burnt wood, campfire, some berry fruit. Flavour is berry, black forest fruits, earthy roast. Nutty malts and hedgerow berry’s linger. Palate is medium light and smooth. Very sessionable.

13th August 2013
GBBF Day 1. Almost opaque dark brown beer. Good pale cream coloured head. Palate is light and smooth and semi dry. Slightly chemical tasting cherry, not sweet. A little coconut and a whisper of roasted hazlenuts. Creamy malt underneath. Finishes smooth. Something went askew with the cherry here.
