10% blonde Belgian beer, Solebay Celebratory Beer was brewed to celebrate the 350th anniversary of Brewing at the Sole Bay brewery. We decided late one night that the beer should be based on the strong sparking Belgian style beers we were enjoying at the retirement do of our production manager and chief engineer, Bob Lee. This beer was brewed with East Anglian Pilsner malted barley, Demerara and Muscavado sugar, lightly hopped with Nelson Sauvign. We added a few springs of locally grown lavender at the end of fermentation to add a subtle floral touch.atory beer created in celebration of 350 years of brewing at Adnams.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours a deep golden with a slight haze and hardly any head. Sweet fruity nose with some phenols. Solid body, a little low in carbonation, very sweet fruit, a little sugary, rather phenollic. Dry finish. Not a bad stab at a Belgian Strong from a British brewery. 221110

Huge thanks to MadMitch76 for this one. Thanks a lot Ken. Comes in a pretty 75cl bottle in a tin cylinder. Clear copper gold. A strange beer. Yes it has that Belgian ester quality with some rose fruit and white stone fruit flavour. Bit over carbonated. Some decent paleish malts. Itโs drinkable if a bit of a cross over beer between a UK pale ale and a Belgian strong ale. Doesnโt taste of 10% to be honest.

20th August 2010.
Bottle at home. Clear deep gold beer, little white head. Light palate - semi soft and semi dry. Sweet soft banana cream with a trace of bubblegum. That complex hop Nelson is presenting here as sweet grape. More sweet bubblegum follows and then some subtle floral bitterness and a pinch of black pepper. Finishes soft and dry with more Nelson grapey blackcurrant goodness. Complex sweet beer and certainly something a bit different from this brewery. Nice one Adnams!
