(Bottle) Reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, fruity, slightly vinous nose with notes of caramel, red fruit, black-currant, toffee, some oak wood and hints of red wine. Malty, vinous taste with caramel, red fruit, toast, toffee, rye bread, dried fruit, raisins, burnt sugar and a vinous finish with woody hints of red wine, warming alcohol and a balanced spicy bitterness. Full body, with rounded mouthfeel. A certain sweetness. Quite powerful and warming, but really tasty, with a good wood character. Very nice.

Hazy amber beer with a big pale tan head. Palate is airy and soft and light. Mild fine carbonation. Nice nose of dessert wine - mango and peach. Mild creamy malt with a toffee streak. Mild minerals and aniseed alcohol. Lovely wine tones, honey - orange and red berry fruits. Sweet candy - dried fruits - dessert wine. Finishes smooth and dry with a pinch of spice.

Bottle at Papsø’s
Cloudy dark amber color; small creamy head. It has a nice aroma of malt and caramel, a bit buttery, cheesy and maybe phenolic. It has a correct body strength, but somehow the flavor is evanescent, and the mouthfeel dryish; there is malt and caramel, a bit sweet, also alcoholic; correct bitterness; the final is warming, because of the alcohol. Unbalanced.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of bluebetty. Pours a hazy dark amber with a lacing off-white head. The nose is nutty with some wood, roasted malt and dry caramel. Medium body, surprisingly well-carbonated, spicy, woody notes, a whiff of smoke and dry overripe fruit. Extremely dry, surprisingly for the style, but it makes it very drinkable. Some bittering hops in the finish, but this really ain’t a hoppy beer. A very different - but interesting - take on a Barley Wine. 241010
