22 oz bottle. Pours black with a brown head. Dark chocolate and molasses aroma, sweet rum creates a great aroma. Flavor has roasty dark cocoa, molasses, smoke, dark fruit, some coffee-ish flavor blending very nicely with the rum, vanilla, and oak. Rum can often be overbearing I find, but it certainly isn't here. Sweet but far from overly sweet; the sweetness is perfect, and the smokiness is a great counterpoint to it. This is fabulous.

Waxed bomber from Total Wine in Folsom, CA. Some aroma escapes as the wax is removed! Pours dark brown with a decent dark tan head - rather creamy - like the top of an espresso can be. Aroma first impression is chocolate rum. Deep inhale finds dark treacle and vanilla and makes my head spin a bit. Wow aroma. Full + bodied. Flavor has very dark treacle, anise, lots of rum and definitely chocolate. A bit of heat perhaps. Got the rum, didn't find the wood. Lots of complexity tho, so it could be there. Far from dry. The flavor components adequately substitute for hop. Extremely delicious. This is over the top for good ale.

Bomber. Pours a jet black color with a medium brown head. A huge barrel nose, clear spicy sugary rum, roast. Love these Abyss variants, they pack so much barrel into them. Big sweet rum, hot, cocoa, ashy, some vanilla, big sweet chocolate. Very nice. So smooth despite obvious heat.
