Three Sisters Scottish Ale (4.2% abv) is a dark, fruity, refreshing ale that proves a perennial favourite, and is named after the dramatic range of mountains in Glencoe.
Chocolate Malt helps to give this beer its very attractive dark ruby colour, as well as contributing to some of the toasty and liquorice flavours in the beer.
However, a very large charge of whole-flower hops balances the dark malt character with an abundance of hop fruit flavours. These include dried and fresh fruit flavours as well as some more citrus tones not normally found in such a dark beer.
There’s enough ‘going on’ in Three Sisters to keep even the most demanding real ale aficionado happy, whilst the very approachable fruit makes this a popular drink across the board.

Cask at the henry Addington. Reddy amber coloured pour with a thin off white head. Aroma is twiggy, nutty little liquorice, dry grains. Flavour is composed nutty twiggy malts, harsh liquorice, grainy husks, little bitter. Palate is grainy, moderate cask condition. OK.

Cask @ Old Gate, Hebden Bridge. Deep amber coloured with a small creamy head. Fairly complex with hints of fruit, some sweet malt, a touch of roasted malt and all quite dry in the palate. Its nose has a small floral-sweet aroma.

On cask at the Au Bar. Appearance - orangey brown with a generous head. Nose - toffee some dried fruit and a hint of fresh herbs. Taste - more toffee some grassiness and chocolate biscuits through to the finish. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly elegant finish. Overall - a good bitter.

Aroma - Caramel malt...light roast malt...some sweet maltiness...light grassy hops
Taste - Dark caramel malts...toasted malts...bitter grassy slight earthy hops in background..bit of fruitiness
Palate - soft carb...sweet dark malts...tangy light bitter. Finish as main flavour...dry...bitter slight roast...clean finish

Cask@GBBF2010. Reddish amber colour with a small beige head. Aroma is caramel malts, mild nutty and leathery notes as well as some floral and grassy hops. Flavour is caramel malts, some wooden and herbal notes as well. Also some mild leathery and floral notes.
