Cask at the Betsy Trotwood, 08/02/13. Clear amber brown with a thin beige bubbly head that retains well. Nose is caramel, light pine, hops. Taste comprises caramel malt, pine, hops, biscuit. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, some bitterness in the finish. Having had a twiggy mess from the same brewer on my previous drink - I feared the worse! However ... this was a great beer, hopped up bitter meets ESB. Would happily seek this out again!

Cask handpull at Vernon Arms, Liverpool. Crazy, I come all the way from Kent where I can’t find it, to Liverpool, where I can. I almost missed the pump clip at the end of 6 handpulls and had to squint to see who the brewer was of this amber ale. Of course, once I saw what it was, I ended up drinking a pint and a half of it. Deep amber in colour, with a lasting cream head. It’s a decent amber with that rich slight roasted maple syrup pecan nut flavour which I like so much. Some Sheps yeast. Now almost obligatory hop all over it. Can’t believe it. They’re turning out good stuff. Great malts, really good hops on the finish, like earthy really fresh hop. Brilliant.

From cask at Charlies. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is grapefruity. Bitter, citrusy, peachy, orange, grapefruity and light sweetness impression. Nice caramelish dry malt base to this. Citrusy and peachy flavoured into a nice fruity finish.

[Cask at the Bootlegger, High Wycombe] Amber, slight white head. Bitter, sulphurous, minerals. Some citrus and earth flavours behind, but rather too harsh to enjoy. Not at all the "winter warmer" it was advertised as, possibly more autumnal.

Cask, Leasowe Golf Club, Wirral. Copper colour with a medium light tan head. Nose showed some grassy hop and fruit. Caramel malt flavour with some restrained bitterness. Inoffensive and slid down rather nicely after a mean 18. Put the foul Guinness I had afterwards to shame.
