Leifur is named after the Icelandic explorer Leifur (the Lucky) Eiríksson, the first European to set foot in North America – almost 500 years before Christopher Columbus. Leifur discovered a lush landscape with plentiful stores of salmon, vines and grapes, and so named the land Vinland (Vineland).

From tap at Skúli Craft Bar, Reykjavik. Aroma of fruits, citrus, yeast, hint of hops. Flavour is light tart and a bit sour, with a hint if sweetness and a light bitter finish. Body is medium. A nicely crafted Saison.

Poured from 330mL bottle (bb 11/07/22). Slightly hazed golden amber with small white head. Sweet caramel malt and Belgian yeast character, light esters, floral hops. A bit too sweet.

Tap at 't taphuys, Tilburg. dark golden color , clear, big foamy white head. Spicy smell of orange peel. Aroma is sugary malty, juicy, flavors of orange, coriander, cardamom, I guess it contains some local berries and herbs. Finish balsamic, citrus, thin on hops and grass tones, taste sweetish light sour. 306/

(Draught at Café Derat, Utrecht, 14 Feb 2019) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, herbal nose with mixed fruit, herbs, thyme and sage. Fruity, herbal taste with notes of apricots, bread, thyme, rosemary and a mild spicy bitterness. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Fruity saison with lots of herbs. Quite nice.

Keg at Bastard, Reykjavik. It pours clear amber with a small white head. The aroma is sweet, toasty grain, cereal, grassy, hay, banana split and toasted oats. The taste is dry, toasty grain, cereal, grassy, slightly herbal, floral, green banana, orange peel, tangerine, pithy, zesty, some spice and tannin with a drying finish. Medium body and moderate, prickly carbonation. A bit spicy and grainy. Fair.
