This beer has been brewed with a large amount of Vienna malt, as well as Maris Otter and Amber malts. Hop wise, we went for Warrior, Chinook, Perle, Ahtanum, Magnum and Centennial, so has a bunch of character and bitterness.

Cask. A hazy golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of malt and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and spices as well as lighter notes of fruits, leading to a dry and bitter finish.

Cask handpull at Cask & Kitchen, Pimlico. A Vienna IPA. OK I am expecting this to be glorious. Some grapefruit hop on aroma. Good hop sting in mouth. Vienna malts are quite pronounced in the flavour in the mouth. The hops are assertive, then really juicy and fruity on the finish. They blend well with the malts. The finish goes on and on and on. Great condition too. Oh man that is glorious. Full Vienna malts and juicy pink grapefruit flavours.

Cask, handpump at The Coach and Horses, Dronfield, 29-01-10 Described on the pumpclip and by Thornbridge as a Vienna/IPA not exactly sure where a beer that is a hybrid of these two styles should slot so I plumped for the former. Pours dark gold/light amber with a white filmy head, the aroma is quite subtle but some light hedgerow fruits and hops show. The taste is initially hoppy but this is soon reigned in by plenty of tasty malts, a trickle of honey sweetnessand with little streaks of bitterness mostly citric zapping away in the mouth. The bitterness lingers for some time but its more than balanced out by the maltiness, a very nice beer, that I thought I wouldn’t get to try until Merton Beer Festival next weekend.
