Pours deep mahogany into a Trappist glass. Off-white head recedes to mottle surface. Dark caramel and roasted nut aromas. Smooth with upfront sweet almonds turning to dark dried pit fruit in the middle and onto a lasting dusty warming chocolate and licorice burn.

2007 bottle at the 2010 March Metro Detroit tasting. Poured a cloudy brown with a slight red hue. Aroma had notes of sweet fruit and caramel with undertones of grains and yeast. Flavor was nice with a combination of yeast, alcohol and some sweet notes with a bit of sweet fruits coming out in the finish.

Cloudy dark amber with a lasting off-white head. Aroma of dried fruit, brown sugar, spices and yeast, and a vineous alcohol note. Herbal flavour with rosemary in particular, plums and dark sugar, and a touch of alcohol.

Bottle. Blindtasting @ Thewolf. Pours a dark unclear brown with a creamy white head. Nose is yeast, sour, malty, caramel, some dark fruits. Quite complex nose. Medium and smooth palate. Full, sticky, oily and vinous. Nice one.

From bottle, blind #1, courtesy of thewolf. Pours dark and hazy brown with a small tan head. Fruity, light sourish and roasted malt aroma towards vague spiced note. Sweet, fruity, light smoked and roasted malt flavoured. Smooth fruity, spiced and roasted malt flavoured finish. Vague wooden touch alongside the spices into the far finish.

Slightly reddish-brown. Cloudy. Deep fruity notes (almost tomato, but also beet and plum) with light chocolate. Big tangy fruits (tomato, dark fruits). Kind of tart in the finish. Decent, but shattering no earth.

2007 bottle shared by mreusch, and man was I blown away by this beer. What a pretty pour with a thick tan had that quickly fades into a nice lacing. The color is a clear dark brown. Aroma is killer. At first pour its a brown sugar and sweet dark bread malts. However, with just a few moments that fades into almost a completely different beer. Aroma becomes a spice dominant, almost like a Belgian-y Christmas beer. Taste is light black raisin bread with woodsy sides and a lightly dry yet sweat finish. Has a nice mouthfeel with a medium light body and a few spikes of carbonation. However, I keep feeling the beer on my cheeks. Very wonderful beer and thank you very much Matt.

Bouteille 750ml (2007).

A dark brown ale with a thick brown moka head. Beautiful to see. In aroma, sweet caramel with loads of orange peels, vanilla and hops. Fragrants is the word. In mouth, a very sweet syrupy ale with cloves, cinnamon, treacle, and sustained hops bitterness, tingly spicyness. Rich and smooth in mouth. Roasted notes in finale. Wonderful. Bought at Jovi, Gatineau, 12.99$.
