Bent Nail IPA is a tribute to the hard-working contractors who make their living in Red Lodge. The IPA is high in alcohol and hop flavor. We use copious of American cascade hops to give the IPA intense grapefruit and citrus aroma and flavor.

Crisp clear light copper and honey coloured body with a nice and smallish two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of a lot of caramel, some earthy malt, a touch of grass, a little soap and a hint of floral and perfumey hops. Light-bodied; Strong grassy and herbal flavour up front with hardly any malt at all, some light sugars and very little else - a touch of hops. Aftertaste is pretty mellow as well with a little grassy herb flavour, some stale hops and a bit of grain. Overall, not such a great beer and definitely missing a few aspects to make this decent, but sadly, still nice for me to try given it’s a long way from home, and it’s a local beer, but if you can get this beer and others regularly, pass this one up, this isn’t worth your hard-earned money! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Vintage Sellers in Great Falls, Montana on 20-June-2016 for US$1,75 sampled at home in Washington on 16-July-2016.

Pours a dark amber from a bottle, heavy white head with lots of lacing. Aroma of pine hops, flavor of lemon, some caramel, rather bitter but well-balanced. Good beer.

I bought a 6 pack at Star Liquor in Sheridan. Bottled on date of Sept 20, 2013.

A slow pour brought a 2 finger head of foam sitting on a deep golden coloured brew.

The smell is hoppy with notes of grapefruit and orange backed by a mild malt sweetness.

The taste is mildly bitter hops, again grapefruit and orange, the malt is kind of nonchalant; sometimes a sweetish flavour comes into play and then is gone. I think the hops are just beginning to fade from, what I’d think they were like, when fresh but not enough to where you get that grainy, kind of sickly sweetness old IPAs usually end up suffering from.

Nice mouthfeel here and it is certainly easy to drink. It’s a good brew and decent IPA.

It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Average IPA. Bitter finish. Taste of citrus, grapefruit and pine.

On draft at the grizzly bar in roscoe mt. Pours amber with a frothy off white head. Grassy hop aroma. Significant maltiness to this ipa but it really hit the spot after two days in the Beartooth backcountry.
