Super dark brown coloured body with a large three to four centimetre tall light brown head that fades fairly quickly, but still caps the beer after a few minutes. Aroma of roasted malt, caramelised sugars, dulce de leche, toffee, coffee, a lot of lactose, cream and some dry, earthy and nutty elements, but the sugars are definitely there. Medium to Full-bodied; Very rich malty characteristics show at first but are relatively mild and soft with some earthy and nutty notes, but some enjoyable sweetness on the end, with yes, some maple and syrup sugars here. Aftertaste is dry, but very well poised between the soft malts, rich nutty and caramel flavours and plentiful sweetness on the end, with some creamy and lactose notes - nice throughout. Overall, a very nice sweet stout, with a lot of complexity, range, balance, but enjoyable flavours. Overall, a great beer, especially considering the flavours, complexity and range that's still somehow low-ish on alcohol, but nice for the cold weather! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Total Wine in Arlington (Ballston), Virginia on 26-February-2021 for US$4,49 sampled as the 1st beer of my 2021 Advent Calendar, sampled at my house here in Washington on 01-December-2021.
