Can: Poured a dark brown almost black with a frothy tan head that dissipated into a ring around the glass. Aroma is rich roasted malts, chocolate, caramel, smoke. Taste is rich roasted malts, malty chocolate, light caramel, toffee, milky smooth finish.

440ml can from Asda. Near black in colour, with a moderately sized, off-white, head. Milk chocolate aroma, with some uplifting caramel sweetness. Flavour had chocolate fondant, some doughy sweetness and hint of salt, before a toasty finish. Good.

Can from Beer 52. Pours a dark reddish brown with minimal cream head. When first poured the aroma is just salt, but later this fades and it becomes strongly fudge. In the mouth the taste is of salted peanuts combined with chocolate, and a sweet creamy texture. Finish has the bitterness of coffee grounds. Quite nice, but a bit strange.

Keg @ Vocation & Co, Hebden Bridge. Very dark with a creamy off-white head. It’s a very nutty stout in both aroma and taste, and is very crisp.
