This is a BIG beer. Huge aroma of charred malts, big roast, burnt brown sugar, maple, and scorched grains. Thick boy, soft carb, very bitter finish, with a huge dose of more burnt, scorched ingredients. Some subtle pine, grassy hops, lots of herbs. 13% seems a little high, i’ll bet a la southern tier, this 13 is probably more like 8-9%.

Bomber thanks to Sean. I love this brewery. Pours a dark unclear black color with a medium tan head. A big fruity nose, some smoke, heat. The flavor is very sweet, sticky, oil, dark fruit, molasses, some, some spicy rye. Really drinkable despite the ABV and sweetness. Oxidized a bit which helps. Tobacco.

66 cl bottle @ home, bought late 2009 in Pasadena, CA. Clear, deep dark red-brown color. Beige head, quickly receding. Aroma’s: sweet, sugar, red fruit, caramel/toffee, burnt sugar, alcoholic. Flavor is medium sweet, roasted, raisins, dark toffee. Strong alcohol feel. Medium to full bodied, sticky mouthfeel. Finishes slightly dry, a bit woody, lightly bitter.

Hello. This beauty has aged wonderfully!!! Cracked it open after losing my passport and having it found at a beer bar. Dark brown color, light brown head. Rich malty, off sweet nose shows figs, milk chocolate, caramel, molasses, raspberries and rye bread. The mouth is superb, as the flavors have really melded well and shows great depth of fig, caramel and milk chocolate. Very rich, but never too sweet or cloying. Warming lingering fig finish. I loved this beer. Definitely a good winter warmer!!!.

Very deep dark red-brown beer. Just about transparent. No real head. Mild but unfortunate paint tones on the nose. Smooth soft palate, semi dry. Rich dark malt, not bitter or roasty. Semi sweet chocolate and mild coffee and a little cream. A dash of Port Wine and another hint of paint. Not getting much hop. Hides the abv well. Quite light all round and a good flavour that would be very good sans the paint.

Tap at Churchkey. Roughly two years old - poured an almost pitch black color with a tiny tan head. Aroma was still a bit boozy, but had mellowed out quite a bit. Chocolate notes, a ton of roasted malts, dark fruits. Flavor was big on the alcohol - not hot, just very warming. Hops are extremely mellow at this point - wow.

Bottled - first I missed it because of the ash cloud over Europe, but then I found it in London. A brown beer with an orangey head. The aroma has notes of alcohol as well as sweet and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of soy sauce, malt, roasted malt, hops, and alcohol, leading to a dry alcoholic finish.

RBSG 2010 - Pours very dark amber and smells of rich malts and dark fruit. The flavor is predominately malt. It’s sweet with good dark fruit notes and some alcohol present, which is hard not to have at 13% abv. It’s a full bodied brew that I enjoyed very much.

Bottle. Pours clear dark brown with a brown head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma is full of roasted malts with a relatively strong dark fruit note as well a chocolate and a bit of an alcohol note. The flavor has a decent amount of alcohol present, but it is accompanied by chocolate roasted malts and a hint of dark fruits.
