Brewed with a blend of four malts (Pale, Crystal, Chocolate, Roast Barley) and Bramling Cross hops, spices and fruit for a truly complex bottle-conditioned and well balanced winter stout. Spicy orange on the nose with rich chocolate notes and creamy smooth to drink: the perfext Christmas beer and a real warmer for the winter months.
The Chiltern Brewery has been at the forefront of the revival of classic English ale styles for over 35 years. In recent years this has extended to the creation of new styles, all brewed with the finest English malt and hops, naturally.

500ml bottle bought as part of a delivery from the brewery. Drunk at home. Dark brown, a little bit translucent with a quickly dissipating khaki head. Spice dominates the aroma. Lots and lots and lots of clove, maybe some cinnamon as well. Sweet taste, some chocolate and a little bit of cola. Peppery notes. Finish is slightly sour which is a bit odd but it works well enough. Light body, slightly heavy carbonation. I don't understand the rock bottom rates, it's not amazing but it's solid enough.

[500ml bottle, gift from my wife - cheers!] Deep brown-black with a large beige head. Creamy smooth mouthfeel, flavour dominated by milk chocolate with raisins nestling behind, and just a vague hint of spiciness (ginger?). There’s little bitterness; it’s more like a mild than a stout and if you think of it as a mild it’s rather a good one. Maybe just a tad thinner than I’d like, but enjoyable nevertheless.

Bottled. A hazy deep red beer with a tan head. The aroma has notes of straw, ginger, malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of ginger, malt, caramel, and straw, leading to a bitter finish. The body is light.
