Bottle. Pours cloudy nearly black with stable beige head. Clear aroma of caramel, coffee, dried fruit, malt and yeast. Bitter, roasty and hoppy flavour with sweetish notes of fruit, chocolate and malt. Estery aftertaste with bitter notes of alcohol and touches of malt and yeast. Decent.

Bottle, 10%. Roasted aroma, bitter chocolate. Almost black colour, red shine, seems clear. Good stable creamy light brown head. The flavour is roasted and semi-sweet. There is a spicy hop note. Late liquorice and coffee notes. Alcohol bitterness. I like the spicy hop and the base beer, but the alcohol bitterness puts me off a bit.

20/6/2023. Bottle shared by ITFCDan, from Hopsters Ipswich. Pours black with a small bubbly/frothy off-white to beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, dark fruits, roasted coffee, chocolate, toffee, slight ashy edge. Moderate sweetness. fairly heavy bitterness. Medium body, light creamy mouthfeel, average carbonation. Quite enjoyed it but lacks depth, hiding its abv very well.

Bottle on 712 to Edinburgh, thanks to Doddy, 24/02/23. Light black with a well presented khaki cap. Nose is toffee fudge, dark malts, vanilla, molasses. Taste comprises light roast, charr, coffee bean, dark malts, spice, dried fruit rinds. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a kiss of booze. Okay impy if a little lacking in depth of flavour.

Pours viscously with chocolate and whisky notes wafting up, to small dark cream head over jet-black beer. Liquorice, drop and black chocolate. Roast, but lots of sweetness suggested in the nose already. Bit floral somehow, despite all the roast. Taste is drier than feared, bit syrup in the finish only. Liquorice, roast, again some chocolate, mocha. Dry wood, woodfire. Quite well-bodied, however lighter than the 10% ABV would warrant. Invisible but good carbonation. Classic I.R.S., would have benefitted from a bit more dryness throughout.
