Pietra, ''la bière de châtaigne,'' the founding creation of the brewery, is brewed with a blend of selected malts and Corsican chestnut flour. Highly fermentable, chestnut flour has an excellent effect on the retention of the foam and gives a nice color to the beer. Mixed with malt during mashing, it is used as a raw material and not as an aroma.

0.33 l bottle from 'Super U' (Seltz), best before May 2023. Clear, amber with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, slightly malty, a little grassy-spicy aroma of grains, some honey, light straw and a touch of vanilla. Gently sweet, moderately bitter, slightly malty, a little grassy-spicy taste of grains, straw, light honey and hints of vanilla, followed by a short, gently bitter, a bit grassy-spicy finish. Medium body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Pleasant, rather inoffensive.

330ml bottle, online from Beers of Europe. Pours clear amber with a white head. Aroma: malts, caramel, light nutty, sweet. Taste: moderate sweet with low bitterness, more sweet malts & caramel. Medium body with average carbonation. Bit sweet, otherwise OK

330ml bottle from Beers of Europe - Clear amber body, thick white head. Nose has a nutty malt aroma to it, quite sweet too. Taste has the same nutty qualities, quite syrupy sweet, thick mouthfeel. More enjoyable than I expected.
