*M.P.A.~Marlborough Pale Ale~ is built to showcase Rakau, a new Hop variety developed in New Zealand. Starting with Canterbury grown Pale Ale Malt, we add Rakau Hops ~ heaps ~ and then we do it again and again throughout the brewing process. We even add hops to the fermentor. The result? Well...one sip of M.P.A. and you will know Rakau!. M.P.A. pairs well with curries and other strong spicy foods or mature cheese.

Clear amber with a tiny beige head. Hoppy aroma with pine, grapefruits, lemons and caramel. Flavor was sweet and hoppy with plenty of grapefruit, pine and bitternes from the hops.

Bottle. Amber with a light beige head. Hoppy aroma is not huge and has tropical fruits, grilled peaches and resin. Slightly sickly caramel underneath. Taste has lots of caramel and stone fruit sweetness with fruity bitterness. Some alcohol vapours. Smooth malty mouthfeel. Fruity bitter finish. Good bitterness with interesting flavours, but the malt was a bit oversweet for me.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours golden with a slight haze and an off-white head. Lovely - and intense - citrusy hops. Solid body, very sweet caramel and fruit with loads of delicious aroma hops - never heard of Rakau hops though. Solid bitterness. Good one. 090710

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma has notes of citrusy hops, over ripe fruits, malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of over ripe fruits, malt, caramel, and grapefruit, leading to a dry and bitter finish. The alcohol bites the tongue.
