Pilsen Callao. By far the oldest beer in Peru, and one of the longest-lived in South America. Pilsen Callao traces its origins back to 1863, when Federico Bindels partnered with the Frenchman Aloise Kieffer to make the first beer in the then Callao port neighborhood. More than a century and a half later, it remains at the highest levels of preference in the Peruvian beer market.

Bottle brought back to UK from Peru by Painy, cheers. Pours golden with an amber edge and a small short lasting just off-white head. Aroma of grain and grass. Heavy sweetness, light bitterness. Light body, watery and slightly oily texture, average carbonation.

From old tasting notes. Medium gold color with a slightly cloudy appearance. Tart malt aroma with a hint of hops. Some sweet malt notes in middle. Highly carbonated. Grainy bitter finish.

Bottle. Clear golden color, medium sized white head. Smell and taste malts, hay, weak bitterness, low malt bitter finish. Very drinkable on a hot day though, just not very full of flavor (as was expected).

Fresh 12 oz. can thanks jcwattsrugger for the share! Crystal clear gold, piss color. Aroma is lager yeast, skunky and light corn. Flavor is mostly the same as the aroma. Skunky yeast is not overwhelming. Mostly corn and grain in a light watery body. Not offensive.

12oz bottle pours a clear gold with some clumpy white head. You get the nose from way back and you know it well, metal, lemon, cheap stale malt, trashy. Flavor follows right along, heavy fake lemon, metal, some root veg, a bit of a sour note to it. Spritzy finish. Trashy.
