A premium strength, ruby beer. Robust and malt-dominated, fired by a spicy but sweet fragrance. An impact beer designed to leave lasting impressions both visually and on the taste buds.

Cask at London & NW, Weatherspoon's, Birmingham New Street. Clear reddish brown with small off white top, decent lacing. Malty with berry notes and a good ol' grassy bitterness. Smooth but drying with a low soft carbonation. Good.

Cask-conditioned at the Robert Fitzharding, Bedminster, Bristol 15/11/2021. Deep copper in colour, with a tight and creamy, off-white, head. Caramel, touches of leafy hop and red berries, all ending in a moderately bitter finish. Solid and effective drinking on a dreary Monday.

Bottle from local ASDA. Nose isn’t pronounced, but there is quite a bit going on there. Sweet malts contrasting with raisins and dark fruits. Pours dark copper with a frothy transient cream head. Initial impression in the mouth is of sharpness, bitter hops and spices before sweet malts and caramel come through later. Finish is both bitter and sweet. I quite like this, though I’m not too keen on the finish.
