Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of alcohol, caramel, hops, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of alcohol, caramel, bread, and malt. Thanks CaptainCougar for coming to Denmark and sharing this.

Bomber pours clear copper with 60 second tan head. The aroma is bold with pulsing pine hop goodness and some resin along with a bit of sweet malts and a touch of grapefruit hops. The taste begins with a pulse of malt sweetness that gets stomped out quickly by pine hop bitterness and pine hop flavor and some grassy – resiny bitterness. By about midway it smooths out with a second pulse of slick malt sweetness with increasing hop bitterness into the finish. It does seem like an American style barleywine

Bomber. Pours a darkish coppery brown with a sudsy beige head and aromas of caramel malt and pine & citrus hops... although a little on the underpowered side of things. I recently picked up four bombers of new-to-me double/imperial IPA’s, and this is number three. Of the three to date, this is the best. The body and flavor are not overwhelmingly syrupy, and maybe would classify as watery per the style. Still, the caramel and toffee malts seem to play nicely against the strong alcohol and hops. Things do get a little sticky at the end, but the sweetness has a nice darker side to it (not that annoying buttery sweetness). I liked this one quite a bit, especially considering the over-the-top bottles of the last few nights.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Norm's, 8/3/09
Aroma: Lots of grass/earth/pine hops here, a bit floral, a drop of fruit, some caramel as well, maybe a bit of biscuit
Appearance: Clearish copper color, about 1/2 inch of off-white head, lots of spotty lacing on the glass
Flavor: Nice hop flavor here, there is some balance from the malts, more floral and sweet then the nose
Palate: Medium bodied, really nice mouthfeel, and drinks really easily for a beer over 10% ABV
Overall Impression: I was excited for this one, as I like the fact that Clipper City (a brewery less then 1 hr from my home) is expanding their big beer repertoire. Unfortunately, I got many opinions on this one prior to trying it, and it was basically getting killed across the board, so I definitely lost some of my excitement for it. I have to say, and maybe it was my diminished expectations that led to this (for I, as is the case with many of us, have been known to allow expectations - be them good or bad - to cloud my judgement), thought it was quite good. Granted, I went in not expecting too much, but I liked it a lot, especially for the price (a 10.5% beer (my bottle said 10.5% despite the 10.6% above) for $5 a bomber? Yes please!). I love big IPAs, look, this isn't the best DIPA/IIPA ever made, but come on, it's has a pretty nice hoppy beer.

Draft at the 2009 MD Spring Fest. Orange amber color, nice head. Hazy and thick, but still translucent. Astringent hop aroma, mellow cask carbonation and temperature. Big, sticky, warm hop feel. Perhaps a little too sweet and strong for it’s own good. Nonetheless, a memorable and quality beer.
