Belgian-Style Ale Brewed with Spices, Wheat and Oats
Orchard White is an unfiltered, bottle conditioned Belgian-style witbier. This hazy, straw yellow beer is spiced with coriander, citrus peel and lavender added to the boil and whirlpool. A spicy, fruity yeast strain is used to add complexity, and rolled oats are added for a silky texture.

Shipped to me by my wife on a trip to Portland. Sampled from a 70 ml brown bottle this beer poured a cloudy yellow color with a huge foamy white head that lingered and produced some lacing. The aroma was faint but pleasant lemon, yeast, must and pepper. The flavor was very tart and dry with notes of pear, lemon, must and a hint of banana. There was a faint medicinal undertone. The finish was medium length tart, dry and citric. Medium body. Ok.

Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival. Hazy golden, rich creamy head. Strong herbal nose. Sweet and fruity with medium body. Flavours of tangerine, nettles, lavender and spinach. Really very fruity with white pepper shinign through in a finish without bitterness.

Bottle @Sadonkorjuu. Poured pale yellow, slightly hazy. Huge fluffy white head. Aroma is wheat and lavender. Very fizzy and light. Flavor is coriander and lavender. No bitterness. Way too much lavender to be really enjoyable.

Huge white head. Hazy pale yellow body with carbonation. Delicate spicy aroma of coriander and white sage with perfumy notes. Dryish mealy wheaty perfumy taste with intense spicy herbal notes. Very intense. Sharpish, intensely fizzy mouthfeel. Dry mealy soapy intensely spicy aftertaste. Over the top use of spices, really. Did not enjoy. (0.75l bottle shared by Ole_R.)

clear golden, smooth large white head. Lots of head. dry citrussy champaigne like wheaty aroma, dusty, reminds me of the best witbeers i’ve tasted, flavor is dry, citrussy, wheaty, almost no fruity notes. This must be a great summer beer. flavor is wheaty, dry, reminds me of dry champaine and dry white wine as well as witbier. Paring with the correct kind of food would be very interesting.

Bottle 750ml. @ home.Clear medium yellow color, sparkling with a huge, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, moderate hoppy, orange peel, moderate to heavy yeasty, flowers, perfume, lavender. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, peel bitter soapy, light peppery finish, lavender - flowers. Body is medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft to lively. [20100513]

really nice white with a very interesting flavor to it that i can only assume comes from the use of the oats. i was surprised at first at the taste simply because it smelled and looked like a typical white ale, but the lavender and oats added a definite twist on the flavor that took a little while to get used to, but then became very enjoyable. I would do this again, but as far as whites go i dont think it quite measures up to some of the other, more typical flavors.

City Beer Store. Pours a hazy pale yellow with little head. There’s an odd musty flavor to the beer. It might be some sort of spicing gone awry, but it seems more like a stale grain note. There’s mild citrus and relatively heavier coriander. I’m not getting much lavender, but that could definitely be the off note. The beer seems a bit dry for the style, heavy on the yeast without enough good grain sweetness. I’m not a huge fan of wits, and this one wasn’t my favorite.
