Belgian-Style Ale Brewed with Spices, Wheat and Oats
Orchard White is an unfiltered, bottle conditioned Belgian-style witbier. This hazy, straw yellow beer is spiced with coriander, citrus peel and lavender added to the boil and whirlpool. A spicy, fruity yeast strain is used to add complexity, and rolled oats are added for a silky texture.
Admin Note: This is retired and has moved over the Bruery Terreux line starting in 2015.

Coriander, lavender and surprising amount of wheat malt on the nose. Very pale yellow, hazy, thin head. Flavor is dominated by lavender and soapy. It tastes much like a urinal cake smells. Flavor is light and crisp, but too much like a bathroom for me. The lavender is an awful addition IMHO.

(Bottle, 0.75 l, at Pikkulintu) Poured pale golden and clear, turned cloudier, with medium sized and quickly diappearing head. Aroma contained fruitiness, citricness, coriander and spices. Palate was light bodied with very high carbonation. Flavours were spices, coriander, citrciness, mildly malts, hint of sourness and mild bitterness. Aftertaste was mildly bitter.

A hazy golden ale with a thick white head. A subdued aroma of cloves and cream, light sulfur. In mouth, a nice smooth wit with a tingly mouthfeel, a bit lighter than expected, light herbal notes, cloves, smooth. Bieropholie import. Tasted Jan. 30 2010.

Bottled@Beer Hunters, Pori. Hazy pale yellow colour, mediumsized white fluffy head. Aroma is wheat, yeast, some fruits and mild spicyness as well. Flavour is quite much the same. The funny thing is that one of the first things that came to my mind with this one was Deus little brother.

750 ml. Pale yellow, hazy body. Big, white head, slowly diminishing. Strong note of lavender in the nose along with lemon, safe, toasted grain, flowers, herbs and bread. The flavor is lightly to moderatley sweet, lightly bitter and lightly acidic. It finishes lightly sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Thin to medium body, watery texture and very fizzy carbonation βΒ so fizzy it scrubs much of the flavor from the tongue fairly quickly leaving a strange and not all that pleasant floral aftertaste β like bitter petals on the tongue. While there is a solid wit profile in the main body of the beer, it is hard to get around the incongruity of the lavender. For my taste, lavender is better left to scented candles, room fresheners, bath soaps and New Age teas.

Bottle. Pours a hazy light orange with an absolutely massive head on first pour out of the 750. After it dies down, there is a bit of foam clinging to the side of the glass (and subsequent pours donβt release nearly the same amount of head.) Aromas are a mix of herbs, light fruit, wheat... Flavor is pretty mild, but thereβs quite a bit of stuff going on. Fruity sweetness (honey and very faint oranges), a herbal and grassy concoction and a little bit of light citrus peel or something. This is way lighter and airier than I expected, which leaves me wanting a bit more of an assertiveness, but itβs a pretty nice beer. At this price, however, more is in order.

Bottle @ HjHansen, Odense. Pours hazy golden with a creamy white lasting head and lacings. Nose is spicy and rich of pepper, citrus, ginger and a bit of wheat. Full bodied. Smooth. Spicy taste, a bit one dimensional, but somehow balanced. Fresh and very drinkable.

Slightly hazy golden with a big but disappearing white head. Strong spicy aroma with notes of coriander, ginger, cinnamon, cardemum and pepper, along with a little citrus. Dryish spicy flavour with a slightly tart edge. Way too much spice.
