Bottle at ChrisOs ’Blue Ridge Mountains Of Virginia’ tasting. 2009 vintage. Amber, slight haze, decent fruity barley wine. Lovely strawberry. Really full and fruity hides alcohol well. My type of barley wine, loved the strawberry notes.

22nd May 2010. ChrisOs ’Blue Ridge Mountains Of Virginia’ tasting! Hazy amber beer, bo head. Light soft and semi dry palate. Slightly spicy hops over a reasonable malt base. Finishes crisp. Pretty well balanced.

Bottle 22fl.oz. @ chrisos Back In The UK Tasting. [ 2009 ]. Clear medium amber color with a small, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, very weak aroma. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration, overripped fruit. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20100522]

Courtesy of suzygreenburg. Pours hazy amber with thin off white head. The aroma is sweet and dark fruitiness creating a smooth pleasing sense. The taste is smooth too with rich blended sweet dark fruitiness moving into mild yet smooth sweet malts, aged malts as well as plenty of aged to melded grapefruit and citrus orange hop flavor. Nice!

A golden barley wine with a thin white head. A cloying vinous aroma with strong alcohol notes, rather simple. In mouth, a sweet light barley wine with grainy malt, not refined, rather boring. Tasted at "Montréal YeHA! Party 2006". Dec. 16 2006.

Medium amber pour, with a lightly fizzy body and pretty much no head - aroma of cookie dough, brown sugar, molasses, and some mild winter/christmas spices (the aroma reminds me of baking christmas cookies as a kid....a lot) - a bit of sweet maple syrup up front, followed quickly by the same qualities in the aroma, dominated mostly by brown sugar, with a slight cookie quality - mild, drying spices arrive later, along with a cleaner, lighter sweetness, like pure cane sugar - alcohol warmth crops up near the finish, adding a rum-like flavor - a little thin in the finish, making the alcohol burn a little bit more than is welcome, but otherwise this is an original and enjoyable barleywine.

Pours deep amber into a snifter. Tan head recedes to skim surface and hug rim. Tear lacing. Alcohol aromas. Sweet and sticky with a lasting alcohol finish.
