Aarhus Bryghus Imperial Stout is a traditional Baltic Stout at 8%. The smoothness in the beer stems from the exclusive use of aroma-hops and a generous dose of cane sugar.
The taste of Aarhus Brewery Stout is thick and bold. Although it is a heavy beer, it is not the hops that are dominant. This makes it easier to drink, than many other dark beers. There is also a slight sweetness from the cane sugar, that is balanced with hops. In time, the bitterness from the hops subside, and the sweetness will dominate.
The Imperial Stout will age and mellow with time. The young Stout goes well with red meat, while the Stout after a couple of years loses much of the bitterness and goes well with a rich chocolate cake.

Nice slightly bubbly mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly roasted, dark malts, caramel, roasted grain, nuts, grass, unripe banana, sour coffee, chocolate. Taste is slightly dry roasted, sour coffee, hay, dark malts, burnt grain, burnt caramel, grass, chocolate, paper. Medium bitterness, dry slightly harsh mouthfeel. Boring.

Shared 600 ml bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgaard. ABV is 8%. Very dark brown colour, nearly black, but still fairly "pale" for something called an Imperial Stout. Moderate beige head. Nice roasty aroma and flavour, with coffee and chocolate notes, but more like a decent strong porter than an impy stout.

Flaske hos Ole Anders juni-13: mørk mahogny med kort skum.Lett i aroma og kropp vitamininnholdet tatt i betraktning. Neppe en imp.stout, men lett å drikke, lett å like. Et snev av fjøs/farmhouse oppleves som kledelig.

(On tap from Cockney Pub, Aarhus, DK) Pours dark brown/black with tan head. Aroma/taste of roasted malt and caramel. Ok but certainly didn’t blow my socks off, overall seemed to be too light bodied for a proper stout, but at the same not offensive. Average overall (might try bottled next time)

Bottle, 60cl. Vintage 2010. A more or less black one, topped by a small, dense, beige head. Some roasted malts, with caramel, some butterscotch and dried fruits and licorice. The flavor is on the chocolate side, not much roasted or burnt flavors to be found. Some bitterness. Medium to fulll body, quite dry, yet sweetish. Smooth carbonation. Chocolate and roasted malts in the end. Not much imperial stout-ish going on here. 111112
