Clear, bronze-brass-golden. Small, somewhat dense, white head.
Nose is very even, mellow, well-aged. Lots of cellar funk but nothing aggressive nor any big acidity. Even barrel tones with light minerality and no bourbon that I can find. Good saison quality. Quite aromatic.
In the mouth it begins flavorful, as well, with juicy acidity and interesting barrel minerality and funk but quickly goes awry on the finish which is chalk full of what I refer to as hard cheese rind. Bitter, blanding, almost astringent. Maybe it's from leaving on the yeast too long? Or maybe it's just an expression of some bacteria, but whatever the case, I didn't finish my glass. Sad, as the aroma is so promising.
