An amber colored ale, Black Isle Red Kite is brewed using only the highest quality Maris Otter pale and crystal malts for flavor and body. Challenger hops for bittering with the late addition of Styrian Goldings creates a balance of quenching citrus and malt, and a classic aromatic finish to this refreshing ale.

Bottle at the brewery 2009 and afterwards at home. Clear dark amber to copper colour, rocky off-white head, disappears quickly, some lacing. Sweet toasted malt aroma, bread, slightly smoky, hints of nuts (walnut, hazelnut), slightly fruity, floral, citrus, herbs. Mild medium sweet and bitter taste, fruity undertones (apricot, plum). Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation, crisp well-balanced sweetbitter finish.

Dark amber coloured with a hint of haziness. Healty and quite dense white head, excellent retention and lacing. Aroma has a soft and slightly buttery biscuits malts base, with red fruit hints and a herbal whiff. Not powerful but pleasantly clean and delicate. Taste shows a biscuity/toffy malts base with a hint of earthiness, red fruit hints and a lightly refreshing herbal/grassy finish that feels more dry and bitter than your standard english bitter (though still moderately dry and bitter). Light to medium bodied with low to medium carbonation, with an overall soft and smooth feeling. A semi-classic, quite interesting bitter, that shows excellent balance and drinkability. Nice one

Aus der Flasche 2015-05 getrunken. Das dunkelrote Bitter ist ein schöner Durstlöscher mit ganz leichter Frucht, etwas Hopfenbitterkeit und einem leichten malzigen Körper. Nicht schlecht!

Bottle. Amber/copper coloured. Nice foamy head. Mild aroma of toffee, nuts and hints of citrus fruits. Taste is malty, slighty fruity, a little bit nutty, caramell and bitter liquorice. Finish is quite bitter. Low to medium carbonation. Ok.

Bottle from Beer52. Deep copper with a lasting beige head. Toffee and minerals at first, then warming juicy chewy malt, creamy butterscotch, berries, orange and earth with a dry finish. Not big punchy flavours, but great balance and good depth. A top-notch and very satisfying bitter.
