An amber colored ale, Black Isle Red Kite is brewed using only the highest quality Maris Otter pale and crystal malts for flavor and body. Challenger hops for bittering with the late addition of Styrian Goldings creates a balance of quenching citrus and malt, and a classic aromatic finish to this refreshing ale.

Bottle (bought at the brewery): Amber, slightly hazy, persistent, small fluffy head, sticking to the glass; citrus-fruity and malty nose with a mild, but distinctive aromatic hoppiness; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, light bodied; lingering malty-hoppy finish. a decent, well crafted Ale..............

500ml bottle bought at Ealing BF 2007 from the Realale.com stand and drank on the train home. Brown/russet, lasting beige head. Minerally red ale aroma. Some red fruit, creamy aroma. Touch of vanilla. Burst of red fruits in mouth. Really quite malty too. This beer is all aobut the red malt fruit, but there is a decent hop finish to balance it. The malt is a little biscuity too. Alright our kid.

Light amber ale with a thin white head. Strong diacetyl in aroma, buttery, with strawberry notes. Another off-beer from this brewery, with sweet malt and tart lemony acidity, like a blood orange. Light bodied. Brought back by Mike from Scotland. Nov. 2005, Mike’s place.

Orange-amber, well carbonated; fluffy, creamy, whipped eggwhite head, off-white. Good, no excelltent nose of noble British hops, bottled but smelling like a best cask bitter. Slightly smoked, faint bitterish flavours superposed one a sweetish malt taste. I somehow get some oats or buckwheat notes. Smooth, but not really refreshing, lively impression, bit fizzy even. Quite nice ale. Like it, even when not tried in ideal circumstances. Hurray for the Caledonians at Ratebeer!
