RBESG 2006 Grand Tasting. Colour like sherry oloroso, minimal head. Sherry aroma too. Sweetish flavour with pastry notes, quite nice.

Bottled. Amber colour, mediumsized head. Aroma is malty, alcoholic and plummy. Flavour is malts, alcohol, dark fruit and some weak bready hints are also there. Pleasant one. Nice and quite full palate.

A hazy brown beer with a disappearing light brown head. The aroma is sweet and quite spicy. The flavor is malty with caramel being most dominant, but also quite spicy.

No head after 5"; very big bubbles from Coca-Cola coloured beer. Vanilla, straw, dark malts - and rotting meat, nothing fierce, of course, just a waft of raw, unpleasantly warm going-ons. Somewhat bready too. Taste is pure gingerbread, industrial speculoos really, quite dry, bitterish on subdued sweet. I detect spices: all dry and bitter rather than sweet: nutmeg, cinnamon bark, turmeric... Bit fruity, quite spicey finish. Long lasting Coca-like carbonation. Well bodied, thinner but velvety texture. Body is never N.O. main feature. Somehow this one is less open, less inviting than the 2003.

Hazy dark amber color; poor head. Malty aroma, with caramel; a bit woody and sour, very light spices (nutmeg?). Malty taste, a bit dry or not yet fully mature, in which the caramel dominates, with a hint of liquorice and smoked malt; not really complex. Long final, bold bitterness.

Brown colour. Medium head. Toffee aroma with a touch of hops. More smooth toffee when you taste it. Peppery finish. Surprisingly thin. Will probably improve with age.

Sampled draught at Stockholm Beer Festival.
Deep red. Still young and a bit raw. Generous on both hops and malt. Soft mouthfeel, notes of grapefruit. Could also be described as an American strong ale, but the brewers prefers the old ale label.
