Opaque black beer, residual tan head. Malt, chocolate and coffee nose. Softish palate, semi dry. Rich coffee and chocolate - neither dominant. Dark malt and licorice. Trace of brandy and fruits. Dry finish with a mild licorice aftertaste. Slightly gum numbing but otherwise hides the alcohol well. Nice beer but the base beer is better.

Bottle. It’s an almost black beer, looking clear, and without carbonation and head. Some licorice on the quite meaty nose. One dimensional but nice. The flavor is meaty and slightly nutty, with caramel and some chocolate, rather sweet. Full-bodied and slightly warming on the palate. Well, it’s not a bad beer, but a bit intense and one dimensional it is. Sure drinkable though. 110311

Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, dark chocolate, coffee, wood, tobacco, light licorice, light metalic. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, dry and alcohol warm finish. Black with a small tan head. The roasted aroma has a lot of licorice, with sweet alcohol almost liqeuer-like. Roasted flavour with licorice and a fruity touch. Intense alcohol character but seems fuller in flavour than the regular.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt and soy sauce. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and chocolate as well as lighter notes of something burnt and wood, leading to a dry roasted finish. The body is thick.

50 cL bottle, courtesy of Papsoe. Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is hardroasted and dark malty. Sweet malty, light sugarish and smoked. Not so hardroasted. Lingering roasted malty into the finish. Smooth and slight smoked to wooden lasting impression.

Bottle 50 cl. Pours a thick pitch black with a small dissipating head. Solid, hard roasted malts in the nose. Solid body, lots of hard roasted malt, sweet dark chocolate and a rich malt bitterness. A little low in carbonation. Yummy. 030110
