650 ml bottle shared at the Hoppy Pub, Thessaloniki. Black color with beige brown head. Roasted malty aroma, coffee, instant cold coffee, licorice, dark fruits, light chocolate. Sweet and bitter taste like aroma. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.

Pours a black from a bottle. Not much aroma, just a general roastiness. Flavor is a nice coffee truffle, rich, more bitter than sweet. Good beer.

This was poured into a snifter.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a thin wisp of tan foamy head. Gentle thin lacing slides into the beer.
The smell had a nice sweet to roasty blend of coffee, cocoa and a light amount of vanilla. Light bitter coffee grounds slide in underneath.
The taste was mainly sweet with a nice roasty to sweet blend of the coffee to cocoa once again. A light dry sweet to roasty coffee aftertaste leads into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fairly decent sipping quality about it. Carbonation seemed good as an RIS, as there’s enough dry and bitter roastiness on my tongue.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good RIS that I would have again.

Super rich dark brown body with an oily black glow and a nice one centimetre tall deep dark brown head. Aroma of ridiculously strong oatmeal, nuts, earth and coffee with a less assertive prune, milk, chocolate and raisin sweetness throughout. Full-bodied; Rich chocolate and roasted malt notes at first with a surprising amount of carbonation, all with a deep pit fruit sweetness and some pungent anise and licorice notes to finish it off. Aftertaste shows quite the complexity with ranges from burnt to pit fruit sweetness and back to anise and permanent marker all finishing with a vanilla, oak, spice and especially alcohol burning finale. Overall, a nice imperial stout with tons of character and complexity but perhaps still a bit too dark and pungent throughout for me. I had aged my bottle for over 10 months and it still wasn’t long enough. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from New Beer Distributors on 13-July-2013 for US$3.25 sampled at home in Washington on 01-May-2014 as beer #4501 as my 3rd rating out of 3 to celebrate the milestone. Bottle. Pours opaque black with a medium dark brown head that dissipates fairly quickly leaving good lacing. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malts, a bit of cardboard, anise. Flavor is an improvement, light sweet, medium bitter, roasty, chocolate and rich on the tongue. Lingering bitterness on the finish. Fairly full bodied and creamy. Quite nice in the end.
